Meet the new honourary chair

Drew Wright has been named the honourary chairperson of the United Way of South Georgian Bay's 2008-2009 fundraising campaign.

The Collingwood resident placed third in the latest round of CTV's Canadian Idol singing competition.

"Drew's accomplishments this summer have shown his incredible poise, integrity and a genuine community spirit that was an inspiration to us all," said United Way of South Georgian Bay President Doug Fraser.

"Drew Wright allowed each of us to participate in his dream," said executive director Debbie Kesheshian.

"He represents our South Georgian Bay community so well and we are so proud of him, he was a natural choice to bestow this honour on. He makes people believe they can reach their dreams too."

Kesheshian said because Wright is on tour with fellow Canadian Idol winners, he will not have an active role in the campaign.
