Lighthouse Community Church is hosting Newfie Nite on Sat., Nov. 21 in order to raise funds for an orphanage in Zimbabwe.

A traditional Newfoundland meal, called a Jiggs Dinner, will be served, including eight varieties of traditional Newfoundland food.

The evening includes Newfoundland music, humor, skits, games and prizes.

Pastor Paul Bailey said the church is halfway to its goal of raising $36,000 to build Wasaga Beach House at the Village of Hope Orphanage in Zimbabwe, which will house eight children orphaned by AIDS and a caregiver.

The people who run the Village of Hope orphanage will be in attendance.

The event begins at 6:30 p.m.

Tickets cost $25 and can be purchased at the church, located at 800 Sunnidale Rd.

Seating is limited.

"We are encouraging people to come for an evening loaded with good food and lots of laughter," said Bailey.
